Courtesy of Covid 19 —nothing is for certain during these times. Things are changing minute by minute. The full impact of the virus on Schroon area businesses is yet to be realized. Take for instance the food service industry and this post from Sticks and Stones early Monday afternoon.

To our loyal guests:

First of all, thank you for supporting us over the last challenging week!
Secondly, we are forced to adjust our operations starting at 8 PM tonight.

We will open as usually today at 4 PM for regular dine in and take out. We will close at 8 PM tonight.

Tomorrow we will post our plan moving forward, as directives could be different in 24 hours.

Thank you all. Be safe. Cherish your time with family.

Steve & Gary

Here’s the latest from Flanagan’s:

As you are all aware of by now, N.Y. State governor Cuomo, has put a moratorium on Restaurants/Bars as of tonight at 8:00 because of the COVID-19 Virus, Making take out our only option for service. We normally close to do our cleaning in a week anyway, so in trying to make a BAD situtation, a tad better. We are going to close and get even more extensive projects done. WE WILL BE CELEBRATING ST PATRICK'S DAY when we are able to reopen. GREEN BEER AND CORN BEEF WILL HAVE TO WAIT. 😭😭 Thanks to ALL of you, Good Luck and hugs.

And there’s some positive news from the Adirondack General Store:

We will be changing our hours so we can accommodate the community during this unprecedented time. Beginning Wednesday, March 18th we will be open every day 8am-2pm.

We will do our best to have as many essential items stocked as we can. We will have limits so everyone will have the same opportunity to purchase the many essential items that are out of stock at the larger grocery stores.

We have toilet paper, paper towels, milk, juice, half & half, bread, eggs & bottled water, We will also have chicken breast, hamburger, deli meats & cheeses by the pound.

As of now we will still be open until 8pm on Saturday, serving dinner. We will remain open through April as well, instead of closing for vacation, if the need is still there.

If there are any special food requests please reach out to us, we will do our best to accommodate any request. Also, If you know of anyone who can't get to the store we will also have some ability to deliver.

You can email us adirondackgeneralstore@gmail.com, message us here @ADKGeneralStore or call the store at 518-494-4408. Leave a message if we don't answer. We will get back to you as soon as possible.

Joe & Yvette.

We’ll post more as we know it. We hope everyone stays safe and businesses will rebound ASAP.

Adirondack Shindig Saturday

AdirondackShindigDowntown_lg.jpg

This is always a great way to spend a special summer, family friendly day: there’s the yard sale, a preview of the renovations of the historic 1881 church and a concert featuring The North Country Boys and Andy Smith and Bob Gagnon.

Start your day in the morning at the Adirondack Yard Sale beginning at 9 am and continuing until 3 pm near the Recreation Field, and enjoy the Family Activities Area and take a chance in the basket raffle.

Adirondack Shindig runs from 11 am until 3 pm. Take a walk through the original doors to see the work done in the newly renovated 1881 Union Church.

This historic structure served the Adirondack area residents and visitors for over a century. The historic building will once again serve the area as the Historical Museum Annex of the Horicon Historical Society. Hear the beautiful sound by ringing the still-operating bell as a donation toward the renovations.

The Shindig will feature musical entertainment, desserts and baked goods for sale by J. Gallup Farm. Great food and drinks are available at the Adirondack General Store. Bring your own chairs, get up and dance or sit back, relax, and enjoy a great day.

The day will benefit The Town of Horicon Historical Society. Sponsored by the Town of Horicon Historical Society and the Town of Horicon.
