The Annual Schroon Lake Fish and Game Club Ice Fishing Derby is on for this weekend. Organizers say there is enough ice to hold the tournament, and are encouraging folks who were on the fence about attending the event to come on out.

From the organizers: The ice-fishing derby still is and will be open for this weekend! We have NEVER cancelled it and never will UNLESS there is not enough ice on Schroon Lake of course. In an event if this were to ever happen, we would make sure to let everyone know. Otherwise, the derby is still open! Once again, there is still more than enough ice on Schroon Lake for fishing. See you all this weekend!

Registration is $15 and tickets are available at Flanagan’s the Crossroad and Timberwolf. Here are last year’s winners, to give you an idea of what to expect.

A Hole In One and A Whole Lotta Fun

 

A spectacular hole in one was how a great day of golf for a great cause ended at the Schroon Lake Lion’s Club 10th annual Scrambles event on Saturday.  We’re told the crowd roared as Linda Locasio (pictured above) nailed a hole in one to collect the Grand Prize in the Flanagan’s 19th Hole Closet To the Pin shootout. More than $1500 was raised for scholarships for college bound Schroon Lake Central Seniors.
