Schroon’s Ice Fishing Derby Is A Go

Fishing Shanties on Schroon Lake

The Annual Schroon Lake Fish and Game Club Ice Fishing Derby is on for this weekend. Organizers say there is enough ice to hold the tournament, and are encouraging folks who were on the fence about attending the event to come on out.

From the organizers: The ice-fishing derby still is and will be open for this weekend! We have NEVER cancelled it and never will UNLESS there is not enough ice on Schroon Lake of course. In an event if this were to ever happen, we would make sure to let everyone know. Otherwise, the derby is still open! Once again, there is still more than enough ice on Schroon Lake for fishing. See you all this weekend!

Registration is $15 and tickets are available at Flanagan’s the Crossroad and Timberwolf. Here are last year’s winners, to give you an idea of what to expect.

The Schroon-North Hudson Historical Society and the Schroon Fish and Game Club are joining forces to preserve memories of the club. More than 60 years of  memorabilia will be on display. Folks are encouraged to bring photos and their memories to share.
