Señor P’s

Mr. P’s is turning into a Mexican cantina for one night only with the next installment of their popular “pop up” restaurant themed evenings.

Next Wednesday there will not be any barbecue at the ol’ smokehouse – instead, chiles rellenos, shrimp ceviche and chicken fundido will be a few of the tantalizing dishes on offer.

And one of the dishes – the Chiles Rellenos con Picadillo, is inspired by a restaurant in Tucson, where chef Shelby Davis grew up.

“When we were thinking about the menu, I immediately thought about the great chiles rellenos I used to have at a restaurant called Mi Nidito, which translated means My Little Nest,” Shelby told Schroon Laker last weekend.

The dish features roasted poblano peppers stuffed with ground beef, tomatoes and cheese. The entire menu is gluten free and features many vegetarian options and delcious deserts. You can see the entire menu here and learn more about the event here.

To attend this private event  -- or place an order for takeout -- you must reserve in advance. The last two pop up events  --  featuring Indian and Thai --  were well attended.

“We’ve had folks who were familiar with those cuisines and folks that had never tried any of the dishes,” Shelby said. “It’s great seeing the reactions of the ‘newbies’

“It’s become a very social event. It’s mainly locals and everyone gets to see each other and catch up.”

Will you be going? Did you attend the Thai or Indian nights? Tell us about your experience in comments.
