Sunday Eats

If it’s Sunday night in Schroon – then there’s lots of belly filing options in Schroon.

At Mr.P’s Mountain Smokehouse, Chef Shelby is doing her own take on a classic, The Kentucky Hot Brown sandwich.

It’s based on the Kentucky Hot Brown from the Brown Hotel in from Louisville, Kentucky. Back in 1926 the kitchen came up with an alternative to the traditional late night sandwich snack, which was ham and eggs.

The traditional Hot Brown is an open-faced sandwich of turkey and bacon, covered in Mornay sauce and baked or broiled until the bread is crisp and the sauce begins to brown

Shelby’s version:  “It’s an open faced sandwich, on a savory French toast roll with chipotle cranberry relish, smoked turkey, bacon, parsley and melted white cheddar.

We tried it and it’s yummy.

Over at Drake’s starting at 4 pm, they are serving up their Prime Rib special for $18. And at the other end of town it’s one of your last chances to get Prime Rib from Witherbee’s Carriage House, before they close down for their annual November, pre-Thanksgiving break.

And over at Sticks and Stones, which happens to sport the largest selection around of craft beers, it’s a Pinot Noir, which has got everyone buzzing. From Sticks and Stones:

"What Wine do You Love? We are LOVING Ventana's 2011 Pinot Noir. Available by the glass or bottle It has an explosion of vibrant cherry, raspberry, cranberry and a delicious hint of chocolate! With a touch of smokiness and vanilla, this Pinot Noir is #food #friendly and is perfect with just about any entree!"

Salud!
