Pinwheels

Did you know the pinwheel is an invention of an Armenian immigrant toy manufacturer, Tegran M. Samour?

Mr. Samour invented this delightful toy --  originally titled wind wheel -- in 1919 in Boston. Mr. Samour (shortened from Samourkashian), owned a toy store in Stoneham, and sold the wind wheel along with other toys which he invented.

And today (Saturday, May 24) kids can drop into the Schroon Lake Library for their Saturday walk-in crafts  from 11 am - 1:30 pm. and make their own! This event is FREE! If you want to learn more about the pinwheel, you can read the patent application here.
