Time For More Fun: Are You Ready?
/More fun, more sun – it’s another big week in Schroon and beyond -- and we’ve got your handy, dandy guide, right here for July 26 - July 30
Monday
We are hearing this summer’s crops are a bumper, and the vendors at the Schroon Lake Farmer’s Market have the pick of the crop.
There are terrific salad greens and tomatoes – organic meats and fresh baked goodies. Pick up a bottle of homemade wine and you have yourself a complete meal. (9am on the lawn of the Town Hall).
On Monday night check out the talent on stage at the acoustic band jam session – great tunes and a fun time for all. The Schroon Lake Arts Council proudly sponsors the event. Free! The fun starts at 7pm.
Tuesday
If your don’t have access to a boat on your vacation -- and you’d like to get out on the lake --the Schroon Lake Boat Tour, is a great way to get a view you may not have seen before. But the real reason for the tour is to learn about Schroon’s fascinating history.
The tour is full of rich details about the town’s grandest days, when guests would arrive to lakeside resorts via steamboat, after a horse and carriage picked them up after a long train rides from New York. 11am.Get your tickets in advance from the Schroon Lake Chamber Office.
Tuesday’s Boat House Concert features the Boxcar Lilies. The show is at 8pm and tickets are an amazing value: $12 for adults and $5 for children. Proudly sponsored by the Schroon Lake Arts Council.
Wednesday.
We like to think that today is one of those days when there’s a special extra dose of kids fun activities.
There’s story time at the Library ay 10:30 am and after the little ones can read to Cooper the Therapy Dog. (Call the Library for more information: 518- 532-7737).
If your need a kids book or three, the Book Store, sponsored by the Friends of Schroon Lake Library, has a HUGE selection -- as well as games and puzzles. All poceeds benefit the Library. It’s located in the basement of the Hudson Headwaters Building.
And Wednesday’s weekly Square Dance is practically made to put smiles on the faces of kids of all ages. We know of several generations of families who make this their one, go to event, while on vacation here in Schroon. It’s 7pm at the Bandstand in the Park. Free!
And tonight it’s the premiere of the Seagle Music Colony’s Production of “Into the Woods.” For ticket availability, please call the box off at 518-532-7875. 8pm.
Thursday
Check out the Arts and Crafts Market on the lawn of the Town Hall. There are several new vendors this year, and there’s always something new.

At Witherbee’s Carriage House it’s open mic night, with sign-ups with maestro Mark Piper starting at 6.30pm. It’s upstairs in the loft bar.

This summer in Schroon a new weekly event has been gathering a following. It’s simply titled “Adirondack Storytelling” and it’s a chance for folks to share their history of this area with others. It’s at 7pm at the Boathouse.
Friday

For good old fashioned family fun, there only one place to be on Friday nights: that’s the Word of Life Kids Rodeo in Pottersville.
Weekend highlights include Saturday’s Paradox Lake Association Golf Tourney, Seagle’s “Into The Woods” and the ADK Shakes “Songs of The Iroquois, at the Scaroon manner Amphitheatre.
