Raising Hope

At the very essence of what makes Schroon Lake such a special place is its community. We are a community that rallies around neighbors when in need, a community that supports its school and emergency services. We are a community that cares.

And this Saturday( December 17) the community will do what it does best, in coming out and supporting Kelly DeZalia, in his brave fight against colon cancer at a “Holiday of Hope”.

Kelly, 43, is a resident of North Hudson and a former Schroon Laker. He is married to Stephanie and is the proud dad of Miranda, 16 and Jordan, 11. He is undergoing chemotherapy before surgery in the New Year.

The jam packed day kicks off at 12 pm  at the Schroon Lake Fish and Game Club, featuring a bake sale –  with cakes, breads: banana, spice and pumpkin pies - photos with Santa, cookie decorating for kids, a silent auction, raffles and door prizes.

At 6 pm there will be a special Zumba class ($7) at the club with all proceeds going to helping out Kelly and his family.

We also hear that Martin Thompson is selling Christmas trees at 348 Letsonville Road. All the money will be going to Kelly and his family. Martin’s number is 518-585-7219.

And mark your calendars for a January 7th,  concert featuring the terrific folk singer Adirondack Roy Hurd at the Schroon Lake Central School.
