A New Look For Schroon Laker

We recently published our 400th story here on Schroon Laker and to celebrate, we decided to give ourselves a makeover. From our humble beginnings last May, we have grown this website into something we are very proud of. We have thousands of unique users and tens of thousands of page views -- and that's just in recent weeks in the dead of winter!

We can't wait to see the traffic the site will attract in the weeks  -- and months  -- ahead as thousands of the "summer people" return. We look forward to Schroon Laker.com being discovered by a new wave of folks who love Schroon Lake and what it has to offer as much as we do! Where else can you catch up on all the news, fun, food and buzz!

So what do you think of our new design? What do you think of Schroon Laker? What would you like to see more of? Tell us in comments. And if you've got news, a tip or an upcoming event you'd like to share with the community you can email us at schroonlaker@me.com

Folk Fest Update: Rain or Shine - It's All Good

So what if Mother Nature might be a little uncoopertative today -- the 22nd Annual Folk Fest is still a go.

Music events will be moved into the BoatHouse, depending on the weather, an organiser, Sharon Hooper told Schroon Laker.

"Rain or shine, we will be on," Sharon said.

Todays festival -- statring at 12 noon -- features performances by Roy Hurd & Frank Orsini, Chris & Meredith Thompson, Atwater & Donnelly, The Sky Blue Boys and the Michelle Fay Band. Food will be available from the famous  Lions Club Hot Dog and Burger Shack. Fourteen crafts men and women will be selling and demonstrating their work.

Mark Piper: A Man And His Music

We first met Mark Piper just after he and his wife Sharon opened up their Schroon Lake Bed and Breakfast back in 2009.

Little did we know that besides his skills in the kitchen, where he can whip up a killer breakfast, that he was a very talented singer and song writer. If you've seen him play the open mic at Witherbee's on Thursdays, you know what we mean. If you haven't  -- then check him out at his new "other" weekly gig every Saturday afternoon in the Town Park next to the Band Shell through the end of the summer.
